Used Shipping Container Prices in India: What Drives the Price
Quick answer: AK Container Logistics does not publish used-container prices. Every price is quoted per enquiry against the specific unit, grade, quantity, location and delivery. The main drivers are size and type, condition grade (cargo-worthy is the higher grade, wind & watertight the lower), age, location, delivery and quantity.

Most buyers ask what a used shipping container costs in India. The honest answer is that it depends on the unit and on where it has to go, so we confirm prices on request instead of printing a table. This guide explains what moves the price so you can brief a supplier properly and compare quotations on the same basis.
What drives the price of a used container
- Size and type. A 20ft standard, 40ft standard and 40ft high cube are priced separately, and specialist units such as reefers, open tops and flat racks are priced on their own terms.
- Condition grade. Cargo-worthy units, which carry current inspection documentation and can be used for shipping, are the higher grade and usually cost more than wind & watertight units. Wind & watertight units suit storage and site use. Grade terms vary by seller, so ask what each grade includes. See our condition grades guide.
- Age and history. Older units, units with repairs and units with visible corrosion or door damage sit lower within a grade.
- Location. A unit at your nearest depot costs less to deliver than one moved across the country.
- Delivery, lifting and handling. Transport, crane or side-loader access and depot handling can add a meaningful amount to the unit price.
- Quantity. Single-unit and project-quantity requests are priced differently, and multi-unit enquiries are usually reviewed per depot.
- Market timing. Container prices follow trade flows and stock levels, so a figure that holds this month may not hold next quarter.
Why we do not publish a price list
Marketplace listings mix grades, ages and locations, and the numbers in them move often. A single table would mislead more than it helps, so figures are quoted per enquiry and confirmed against the actual unit. If you have seen a price elsewhere, treat it as a starting point and ask the supplier which grade, location and delivery it covers.
How to request a quote
Send the details below through the enquiry form and we will reply with a quotation for your requirement.
- Size and type (for example 20ft standard or 40ft high cube) and the number of units.
- The grade you need, or the use (shipping, storage, site office, conversion) if you are unsure.
- Delivery location and any access limits at the site.
- When you need the units.
Budgeting advice
Compare the full delivered cost, meaning equipment, depot handling, transport, lifting and any inspection documents, rather than the unit price alone. Two quotations for identical equipment can differ substantially once delivery and condition documentation are included. Our procurement guides explain how to structure a comparison.
